Tankly is a fuel tracking and trip planning app for iOS, built offline-first - your records live on your device unless you choose to turn on optional iCloud sync. This page explains exactly how Tankly handles your data to keep it secure and private. If you have questions, contact gijoacdev@gmail.com.
1. Data you enter
Tankly stores what you enter yourself: fill-up records, odometer readings, vehicle details, trip plans, maintenance and expense logs, and optional receipt photos. None of this is collected on our behalf or seen by us - it stays tied to your device and your own iCloud account.
2. Storage & sync
Tankly is offline-first: your vehicle, fuel, mileage, trip, maintenance, expense, and document records are stored locally on your device using SwiftData, and Tankly does not run its own backend or server for this data. If you purchase Tankly Pro, you can optionally turn on iCloud Sync, which uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your own devices through your own iCloud account - Tankly never receives or sees a copy of it. Offline backup and restore is a separate, optional Tankly Pro feature that also relies on your device and your own iCloud storage, not a Tankly server.
3. Location
Location is used only when you choose location-based features, such as finding nearby fuel stations, planning routes, or retrieving weather information. Tankly does not track your location in the background. Location information may be processed by Apple services such as MapKit and WeatherKit to provide these features. Tankly does not store or independently collect your location on its own servers.
4. Photos & camera
Camera and photo access is used only if you choose to attach a receipt photo to a fill-up, service, or expense entry, or if you choose to save images like Journey Passes and receipts to your photo library using the native iOS share sheet. On supported devices, receipt scanning is powered by Apple Intelligence, which processes the text securely on your device. It is optional and never used automatically. These images stay on your device - and sync only through your own iCloud account if you've turned on Tankly Pro sync - they are never uploaded to a Tankly server.
5. Purchases
Tankly's core features are free. Offline backup/restore and iCloud sync are optional Tankly Pro features, unlocked with a one-time purchase processed entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). We never see, receive, or store your card details - Apple handles billing and can tell you far more about a transaction than we ever could.
6. Third-party sharing
Tankly does not sell your data, and does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind. The only outside services Tankly uses are Apple's own frameworks: CloudKit (optional Tankly Pro iCloud Sync), MapKit and WeatherKit (maps, routing, and weather for trip planning), and StoreKit (the one-time Tankly Pro purchase). These are provided and governed by Apple's own privacy terms - Tankly does not run its own servers and does not separately collect or share this data with anyone.
7. Data retention & deletion
Since your primary data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it. If you've turned on Tankly Pro iCloud Sync, a copy also lives in your own iCloud account - turning off sync for Tankly in iOS Settings, or deleting the data from iCloud, removes that copy too. Because Tankly never holds a copy of your data on its own servers, there is nothing for us to separately retain or delete.
8. Children's privacy
Tankly is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
